Project Nicaragua is a project designed to help teach youth of Nicaragua the fundamentals of photography with the aim of creating a revenue source to expose Nicaraguan youth to educational and explorational experiences.
All proceeds of the sales of these prints will go towards furthering the educational and experiential opportunities of these kids. If you purchase a print, even just a small one, and share this project with a friend who would like to help support this cause, it will help tremendously in providing these kids with more opportunities. Nicaragua is one of the most financially disenfranchised countries in the Americas and has one of the lowest minimum wages in the world so these these kids really need everything that we can do to help.
Last December I had the great chance of being able to go to Nicaragua to share some of my photography knowledge at a small school. It was amazing to work with the kids and see their enthusiasm, zest for life, and how much they appreciated being taught about photography. I had the invaluable help of Milena, a very sweet and passionate teacher from Nicaragua who helped orchestrate the project and provided translation. Without her this would not have been possible and she continues to educate and teach english to the youth of Nicaragua so that they have a better chance of succeeding.
Finally, some of the the pictures are going up and will be available for sale as soon as the storefront of this website is setup. There will be many more photos to come and a more in depth description of the project and the people and students involved. Make sure to share and follow the page so you get an update when more photos and stories are posted and prints become available for sale.
My name is Jesse Boomer and I am a professional photographer who is trying to come up with ways to help the world. This is my first blog entry on this project, one of my first attempts to use photography as a creative outlet/tool for youth to help generate more opportunities. Please check back or follow to find out when prints are available for sale to help support educational and experiential opportunities for students in Nicaragua.
